After a decade in customer service and logistics, Jarrad redirected his focus toward his true passion: animal care. He has volunteered at various boarding kennels and, after completing multiple certificates in diverse fields, pursued the Certificate II in Animal Care (Vet Nurse Pathway) with AVT.
Shortly after completing the Cert II in Animal Care, Jarrad secured the position of Animal Care Facility Coordinator at AVT. In this role, he’s responsible for the husbandry and care of all campus animals, along with routine care and enclosure maintenance. Jarrad enjoys being able to help students with their hands on practical tasks and interactions with the animals.
Jarrad is enjoying the real-world experience he’s gaining at AVT as he works toward his goal of becoming a veterinary nurse, with the long-term ambition of becoming an RSPCA Inspector.
Outside of work, Jarrad enjoys the sport of dryland dog and volunteers for Western Australian Sleddog Sports Association (WASSA) as a committee member. When not out sledding, Jarrad can be found camping, fishing or being bossed around by three needy furbabies. He has two border collies, Merlin and Miley; and one Australian Shepherd, Solace.
