Kristy’s first step towards Veterinary Nursing
Kristy is a dedicated AVT student currently advancing her skills in the ACM40418 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Her journey started with the ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care (Vet Nurse Pathway), which provided her with an introduction to and the foundation skills of veterinary nursing.
In this video, Kristy shares how the Cert II course not only prepared her for the Cert IV level, but also set her on the path to achieving her dreams. Watch Kristy’s inspiring story below.
Before I studied the veterinary nursing pathway course, I was in retail. I have been in retail for quite a long time and I felt like it was time for me to study something different for myself as my boys were a lot older.
I’ve always loved animals and I love helping animals and feeling like you’re doing something good in your job as well.
I have quite a few friends in the veterinary nursing industry, and I think that they do an amazing job, I look up to them quite a lot. I think to be able to help animals when they’re in need as well I think that would be quite a rewarding job to have.
The veterinary nursing pathway course introduced me to the foundation skills of vet nursing and set me up for success for the Cert IV in Vet Nursing which is what now I’m currently studying.
My favourite part for the veterinary nursing pathway course was the interaction with the lecturers, being supported as well, and also interacting with the animals. It was real hands-on which I really enjoyed.
If I was to encourage someone to study the pathway to vet nursing, I would definitely say to do it. It is rewarding it is challenging it is enjoyable and it does set you up with the skills if you would like to continue on to achieve a Cert IV in Vet Nursing. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
