Kiara’s Experience Studying Animal Health and Welfare

Hear Kiara’s highlights from our Animal Health and Welfare course

We sat down with Kiara while she was studying the ACM20121 Certificate II in Animal Care (Health & Welfare) course to hear about her study experience. This course is a 14-week program where students undertake practical training and classroom activities at our Ascot campus and attend the Cat Haven in Shenton Park (WA) and Greyhounds as Pets in Southern River (WA) for additional practical experience.

Kiara discusses why she chose AVT for her course, highlights of the course, how she found the support from AVT, and what she hopes to do after the course. Watch the video to hear Kiara’s experience.

I was inspired to do this course and work with animals because I just have this over the top extreme love for animals and it’s just very interesting to learn all the new things and discover new things that I didn’t know before.

The highlights of everything I’ve done so far is meeting the Greyhounds. I’m at GAP at the moment and meeting the Greyhounds is great and it’s so fun to interact with them and help them through their day.

The support and the teaching is great. I love everything about it. If I have a question it gets answered like that and the support is fantastic as well.

What I’m hoping to do after this course is continue on to the Cert III and Cert IV to go on Veterinary Nursing and I’m hoping to specialise in canine studies.

What I would say to people who are thinking of studying this course is: go for it. It is great, it’s very informative and it’s a breeze to go through it. If you need help it’s there and it’s really just fantastic.
